Artist's Comments

This was originally a photo of the light in my university bedroom, taken on an Olympus C-3030Zoom in Black Board mode (1/500 shutter, F4, ISO 100, no flash). It's a standard U-shaped tube, inside an duffiser. I then attacked it with some rather basic filters in Corel Photo-paint, and came up with this. It looks rather like one of those infra-red temperature photos, and so I've named it "warm light".

A little challenge for you lot: guess how I created this. The hints I'll give is that the original photo was black-and-white (not greyscale), and the first thing I did was to invert it. Any ideas?

You used filters? <- generic answer =P

Nope. I didn't use a single effect or filter in the end. I used one mask to achieve this, and a couple other tools.
