Long time no post

Sun Aug 13, 2006, 4:11 AM
Hi all. Long time no post.

It's been over a year since I last updated this particular journal. Me real journal is and has always been over on LiveJournal. That doesn't mean I've been hiding - I still visit this site regularly, if nothing else to see what others have uploaded. There's a lot of good art still appearing.

I have however not been uploading anything here. The main reasno for this has been their current policies and submission agreement. While their agreement probably is there to cover their backs, it does require a lot of trust in them. And the blowup a while back over $spyed and °jark kind of broke that trust. To be fair, there wasn't much else $spyed could have done at that point. The problem was that it got as far as it did.

That's not stopped me from taking photos. I have a gallery over on my website, and I keep on posting new images there. It also has the advantage of being under my control, which means that I don't have to worry about terms and conditions or submission agreements.

The photos here will likely stay here, as there's no reason to take them down. But all new stuff is appearing on my gallery. Maybe I'll add thumbnails here, with a link to the full image.

Oh, and if any of you think you've got a suitably impressive pageview number here, tell me. Who knows, I might even do a request.

Devious Journal Entry

If you're reading this, then you probably came in search of deviations. Or you're just typing in random names to see if they've been taken. Or you've devwatched me, and come to see what I've uploaded today.

Yep, I've uploaded some stuff. I got a decent digital camera around Christmas (not a christmas present, but a hand-me-down), and I've been using it. You can see the results of my experiments in my gallery. It's suprising what you can acheive without spending a fortune on proper photography equipment - the blue lighting in 'A Fool's Reward' was provided by me holding a blue keyring torch that cost me a grand total of £2.00 a couple of years back. On others I've used a combination flourescent/filament torch for additional lighting. Who knows what I'll use next?

Anyway, there's unlikely to be many deviations here (if any). I'll use this account for watching people, and commenting (since dA doesn't allow anonymous comments).

But who knows? One day I might upload something. You will never know if you don't stay...
